If I ever questioned whether I chose the right focus for my work, I’ll stop now.

In Thrive Global, Arianna Huffington penned an open letter to Elon Musk. Musk, a businessman and multi-millionaire, is just 11 years older than me and responsible for the precursor to Paypal, Tesla’s and and and.

There’s no doubt that he’s ‘successful’.

Here’s the catch. He is falling apart. He tells the NY Times: “….he had not taken more than a week off since 2001 when he was bedridden with malaria.” He let the NY Times know that he works 120 hours a week, sometimes not leaving a building for 3-4 days at a time, and he saw no other humans on the day of his last birthday.

He’s stuck on this rhythm because of choices he made and because of an inability to trust. He said “if you have anyone who can do a better job, please let me know. They can have the job. Is there someone who can do the job better? They can have the reins right now.”

This is completely destructive. Left unchecked, he’s going to have more to deal with than insomnia. His body WILL fall apart at this rate and someone else will have to take over because he will be incapacitated. All because he’s putting the needs of his company before his own wellbeing.

Now, he’s extreme – but where do you fall on this spectrum?

I meet mothers and businesswomen EVERYDAY who do it all themselves. Without the trust that someone else can do a job in your place, you’re always left picking up all the pieces. You’re so caught up in things being done your way that nothing else is acceptable. It’s just easier to do it yourself, you think.

You get on a call with me and talk about how you’re juggling so many things and you know a ball has to drop. The problem is, the ball you drop is YOU. First, goes your sleep because you stay up late to get shit done. Then, your diet flies out the window as you’re counting sheep because you’re too tired to make good decisions. You stop exercising because you’re tired because your food is shitty. The cycle continues.

It gets to the point where you can’t seem to get things done and you stop even caring. The things that used to bring you joy and excitement are dulled. You wish you could disappear and leave all these responsibilities behind. You stop putting in the effort in your job, your business, or your family and you start wondering what the hell is this all for anyway.

This is when you call me. This cycle doesn’t stop unless you wake up, take the reins, and get some help. Now, I might not be available because if Elon calls, I’m hopping on the first flight to wherever he is, but until that happens, I’m all yours.

It’s time to recenter yourself in your life. It’s time to realize that your ability to feel successful (rather than ‘be’ successful) depends on your ability to feel good on a day to day basis. You don’t need me to tell you what you’re doing wrong, but you do need me to help you untangle it so you can make better decisions.

If you see yourself in this, let me know RIGHT NOW. Book a free call and let’s talk about how I can best help you. If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten.

Get your spark back, ASAP.
